The 4th International Conference on Control and Optimization with Industrial Applications (COIA 2013) was held in Borovets, Bulgaria, during 10-12 July, 2013. The conference was organized by Bulgarian University of Architecture, Construction and Geodesy and Sofia Technical University jointly with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Institute of Applied Mathematics (BSU) and Bilkent University (Turkey). It provided a forum where engineers, scientists and mathematicians from academia, industry and government organizations meet to share ideas on recent advances in all disciplines of science and engineering involving control and optimization.
There were 50 participants at the COIA 2013. During the conference 39 technical presentations were made, including plenary talks given by Professors V. Eldem (Turkey), F.A. Aliev (Azerbaijan), A.F. Karagül (Turkey), P. Petkov (Bulgaria) and S.D. Pogorilyyy. (Ukraine).

At the closing reception on Wednesday 12 July 2013, Professor Fikret Aliev has announced that the next COIA will be held in 2015 in Azerbaijan.
