The 6th International Conference on Control and Optimization with Industrial Applications (COIA 2018) was held at Baku State University in Baku, Azerbaijan, during 11-13 July, 2018. The conference was organized by the Institute of Applied Mathematics of Baku State University (BSU) with the support of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies. The conference played the role of a platform for exchanging opinions between researchers from the academic environment, higher education institutions, and students, as well as discussing the latest scientific achievements. This event has already become traditional and was held for the fourth time in Baku.
The conference was held by nearly 250 scientists and researchers from different countries of the world, including Azerbaijan, Turkey, Great Britain, Italy, Spain, Russia, Belarus, Brazil, Mexico, Ukraine, Poland, France, Iran, India, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan, Kuwait and Bulgaria. The conference has received nearly 345 articles, and after the review and editorial processes, 222 articles were published in the conference proceedings in Web of Science..
During the plenary meetings, famous scientists such as Oscar Castillo (Mexico), Enrique Zuazua (Spain), Muhammad Sarfraz (Kuwait), Mihail Konstantinov (Bulgaria), Michael Ruzhansky (United Kingdom) and etc. made presentations on all aspects of control and optimization. After the presentations plenary speakers received their commemorative gifts during the welcome reception. Note that at the conference were discussed issues related to the application of scientific and theoretical results in industry and the economy. The discussions were held around such topics as “Control Theory”, “Optimization”, “Intelligent Systems”, “Networks and Telecommunications”, “Numerical and Computational Methods”, “Mathematical Modeling and Simulation”, “Identification”, “Application of Optimization Procedures in Physical Problems ” etc.
Minister of Transport, Communications, and High Technologies, Ramin Guluzade, delivered a welcoming speech at the conference. Touching upon the dynamic development of information and communication technologies in the world, he noted that this sphere is one of the priorities for our country.
The social program of the COIA 2018 included a visit to the Museum of Heydar Aliyev and a brief tour around Old City, before the welcoming party.
At the closing ceremony on Friday 13, 2018, Professor Fikret Aliev announced that the next COIA will be held in 2020. The exact dates of the 7th International Conference on Control and Optimization with Industrial Applications (COIA 2020) and its location are to be determined and announced later.
